Rutherford Board of Education School Renovations and Additions Design, and Construction ProgramStarting in April 2003, under the project management firm of Epic Management, Inc. of Piscataway, N.J., a consortium of design firms led by Chapin Architectural Services, PA of Netcong N.J. is currently providing design and construction administration services for six schools, a $25 million District Improvement Project for the Rutherford Board of Education.A&J Consulting Engineering Services, PC is responsible for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design, engineering and construction administration for the proposed additions at four schools and the renovations at all six locations. Other members of the team include Paul Beck Associates, PA of Fairfield N.J. for structural design, and Crew Engineers of Butler, N.J. for civil engineering. Phase I and Phase II of the project are currently under construction. The design work is complete for both Lincoln Elementary and Washington Elementary Schools. Each school is scheduled to receive a 35,000 sf addition and a 15,000 sf renovation, a $12.5 million contract where A&J is responsible for approximately $3.5 million. Construction administration is currently in progress at both facilities. Completion is scheduled for September 2005. Phase II, the design work for the Rutherford High School, has been completed and is currently under construction. This project includes a 25,000 sf addition and 30,000 sf in renovations for a total construction value of $5.7 million. A&J’s portion of this work is approximately $2 million and is scheduled for completion in September 2005. Phase III of the District’s project involves the design for a 15,000 sf addition and 30,000 sf in renovations at the Union Intermediate School, a $5.9 million project for which A&J is responsible for approximately $2 million. It is scheduled to go for bid in fall 2004. The final phase of the District Improvement Project involves interior renovations and site improvements at the Sylvan Early Childhood School and Pierrepont Intermediate Schools. The design for these two schools will start in short order. This design effort is expected to be completed by August 2005 . |
