475 KW Photovoltaic Array for Three Schools

A & J was retained by the Kearny Board of Education as Consultant for three (3) Photovoltaic (PV) Arrays for three schools in Kearny, New Jersey. A total of 21 Arrays were evaluated based on efficiency with reference to proposed layout, cost of the total installation and availability of the PV Modules and Inverters. Sanyo 190 Watt, 10-degree tilt Modules were selected. The layout provided 9.5WDC per square foot connected into the utility grid. The total cost of construction of $3.7 million for the three schools was paid in full by the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and the New Jersey School Construction Corporation (NJSCC).
